Brittney Griner Stats With Team USA: How Has Griner Performed for Her Country?

WNBAchampion and 8-time All-Star,Brittney Griner, besides playing for thePheonix Mercuryplayed nationally forTeam USA. While studying at Baylor University she participated in the 2011 Team USA s European Tour as the only collegiate player to receive the chance. Playing alongside professionals, she averaged 12.8 points and 7 rebounds per game. Of the five games, Brittney earned a record of 3-2 for the team.

Three years later, in 2014 she played at the FIBA World Championships held in Turkey. In the six games, Brittney averaged 12.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2 blocks with a shooting rate of 66.7%. Playing for Team USA she earned her first gold medal and was named to the All-Star Five. The following year, at the European Tour, Brittney averaged the game with 12.7 points with a 4-0 record.

Her next appearance nationally was at the 2016 Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro. Playing for Team USA she received her first Olympic gold medal. Earning her next gold medal at the FIBA Women s Basketball World Championships in 2018, Brittney was named the MVP. Out of the six games she averaged 12.8 points in four games with a 6-0 record for the team.

During her third appearance at the 2020 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Serbia, she averaged 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games. The same year she took part in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. In the six games, Brittney averaged 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and received her second Olympic gold medal.

Brittney s last national game was in 2021 playing at Team USA s training camp in South Carolina. Of all her appearances from 2011 to 2021, Brittney holds a record of 41-4 playing for Team USA.

Will Brittney Griner play overseas after being released from Russia?

4-time gold medalist for Team USA,Brittney Griner, after her long fight with the Russian detention declared her decision to never play overseas again. However, the WNBA player will continue to play for Team USA in the Olympics.If I make that team, that would be the only time I ll leave the US soil and that s just to represent the USA.she told during a press conference.

Apart from playing nationally,Brittneysigned a one-year deal with the WNBA team Pheonix Mercury this year in February. After spending 10 months in prison, the WNBA star is set to make her debut again with her home team. The Phenix Mercury are set to begin their preseason and regular season games in the month of May.

Besides having played 9 seasons with the Pheonix Mercury, Brittney s comeback will be something that everyone is eager to see. Whether Brittney has improved over the last two years since last playing in 2021 and will she be able to compete with her dominant gameplay or not is left to be seen.
