Few NBA fans are aware of Joel Embiid‘s fascinating development and background. As the most of us should know, Embiid just had a fantastic season with the Philadelphia 76ers. This regular season, Joel averaged an amazing 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the 66 games he participated.
One would presume that the 76ers standout has incredible natural talent because only a select few players can average 30 points over the course of an entire season. He then clarified that this wasn’t actually the case. We’ll look more closely and see what Embiid had to say about how he became the player he is now.
How did Joel Embiid make it to the NBA?
When compared to most of his peers, Embiid doesn’t even have that much basketball experience, which might be interesting to viewers. Despite having exceptional height and mobility, Embiid didn’t become interested in basketball until he was 15 years old.
That implied that he would soon be submitting an application for the NBA Draft. But Joel found it difficult to adjust from Cameroon to the United States. especially when he was viciously dunked. Joel admitted that after going through all of these situations, he began to doubt his ability to succeed.
Basically, all I was doing was pretending that I was a skilled basketball player. It’s kind of astonishing how powerful the mind is. I mean, I was awful. However, I managed to persuade myself that I was Hakeem. I then started improving steadily. I then kind of began killing it after that. To get into the NBA, I feigned. I actually lived in the gym and watched YouTube to make the league. There isn’t another way to describe it. That’s how I live. It all happened so quickly that it beyond comprehension.
Embiid made the decision to believe in himself and press on even though he wasn’t sure and things didn’t make sense to him right away because he wasn’t sure. Returning to the present, there is no doubting that he is one of the league’s most dominant players. Along the road, Embiif came upon inspiration and help to complement his own perseverance and hard work. He earned the 2023 MVP award as a reward for his work.
