Manny Machado is the best player on the Padres. Last week, he and the team agreed to an 11-year, $350 million contract extension that will keep him in southern California for the rest of his career.
The extension came as a bit of a surprise since the gold glove third baseman had said he planned to leave his contract at the end of the 2023 season. Now that the uncertainty is over, the Padres and their fans can rest easy knowing that their star player is staying.

The story doesn’t end there. After the news came out, Yonder Alonso, Manny Machado’s brother-in-law and a former MLB All-Star took a shot at Stephen A. Smith, who works for ESPN.
Smith said bad things about the Padres and the third baseman in 2019 after the first 10 years and $300 million of his contract. The video has now been found again, thanks to the Talking Friars Twitter account.
Check out what Stephen A said and how Alonso answered him in the comments.
