She will be back in action after missing out on basketball for a little over a year, after spending time in Russia. Griner came back home after she was detained in Russia for 10 months, on possession of contrabands. However, Griner has faced huge criticism since arriving back home and people questioning her sexuality.
BG is not a stranger when it comes to facing criticism andbeing picked on by her friends in school.I was already getting picked on for being different, for looking like a boy, for having a low voice, so it was hard to imagine myself doing anything to announce that I was even more different than everyone else already thought,Griner mentioned in her book.
With her coming out as gay, her father never accepted the news and was only supported by her mother, Sandra Griner. Griner has a low voice which has often misled people to believe her to be a man. Numerous fans questioned her sexuality when someone added abeard to her face via Photoshop. Some fans now believe her to be a transvestite.
Transvestite refers to someone as a crossdresser or someone who wears clothes of the opposite sex. In the case ofGriner, many fans label her as a transvestite, after seeing her wear men s clothing. She has to face numerous challenges, with the fans questioning her sexuality due to her looks and voice. It is something that has bothered the 8x WNBA star since a very young age.

Soon after Brittney Griner was drafted into the WNBA by the Phoenix Mercury, she publically came out as gay. Even before she came out publically about her sexuality, she confronted her mother, Sandra Griner about it. However, she feared the worst when it came to telling her father,who eventually did not accept her decision, which saw her leave her house and live with her college coach, Kim Mulkey.
In 2013, Griner talked about coming out as gay at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Award. Just recently I came out to the public. I ve been out since about 9th grade, came out to my mom first, Griner said. Since then, despite confirming her sexuality, numerous fans have raised questions about her sexuality. After going through a tough childhood, and coping with the criticisms, Griner has shown courage after she publically cleared the questions about her sexuality.
