In the NBA, Michael Jordan is the most well-known player. He has six championships to his name and is a determined competitor both on and off the field. He has benefited from this aspect of his Airness throughout his career. Jordan has always maintained competition, whether it be on the court or in any business endeavor or business deal. But here is the tale of how five owners of various NBA teams banded together to launch a tequila company.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Charlotte Hornets are among the NBA’s teams. Although they compete against one other in basketball, their relationships as owners outside of the sport are very close. It is reasonable to assume that a group of people who work toward something new are united by their shared affection for that item. Here is the tale of how Cincoro Tequila was founded by five NBA team owners.
Born out of common love, Cincoro Tequila was launched by owners of 5 NBA franchises
The five owners of the individual NBA franchises went out to dinner in New York in 2016 and that was when everything began. Prior to the NBA meetings, Michael Jordan, Jeannie Buss, Wyc Grousbeck, Wes Edens, and Emilia Fazzalari made plans to hang out and have dinner together. They shared more things than they would have thought, besides the fact that they owned NBA teams. They all shared a love for tequila and remained close because of it.

The five of us had never had dinner together before, and that night, Fazzalari said, “something really special happened as we bonded as friends who are arch rivals.”We began to discuss how much we all adore tequila and we came to understand that we shared this enthusiasm, she said. They ultimately made the decision to distill their own tequila and sell it. It didn’t take them long to become obsessed with the idea of distilling their own tequila.
It took Michael Jordan and his partners 1000 bottles to finalize the taste profile
As one thing led to another, they sat down to choose the tequila’s flavor profile. Fazzalari claimed that it took 1,000 bottles for all of them to achieve the ideal taste profile. Their distillery of choice was Destiladora del Valle de Tequila. When they would be present at NBA board meetings, that is when their meetings would be planned. They eventually discovered the ideal flavor to represent their tequila after that.
Particularly Michael showed us how to sip tequila. According to Fazzalari, he taught us how to tequila sip.Fazzalari stated, “Michael and I actually taste every single batch before we bottle because we want to make sure it’s incredibly high quality and just the best. Jordan enlisted Mark Smith, Nike’s Creative Director for Special Projects, to assist with the bottle design. The five-sided bottle that was modeled after an agave leaf attracted a lot of interest.

Five Gold is the English translation of the Spanish word cincoro. The name Cincoro Spirits Group is a tribute to the company’s five founders. Five editions—Blanco, Reposado, Anejo, Extra Anejo, and Gold—have been released.Since the value and volume of Cincoro Tequila are increasing, the five owners are seeing a return on their investment. As far as tequila goes, Michael Jordan favors Cincoro Extra Anejo. The bottles are priced from $349.99 to $1499.99.
