Shaq received some bad news concerning one of the Krispy Kreme locations on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia, back in 2021. Arsonists set fire to the outlet twice, once in February and again in July. The business became well-known for giving 150 dozen doughnuts to visitors who came to the funeral of Martin Luther King in 1968. Shaq made the decision to reconstruct the location soon after the disaster and was prepared to pay the $1.4 million in costs.
Major traits from the former outlet would be present in the new location in addition to the new aesthetic. However, the incident occurred at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, so the plans couldn t advance further.
Does Shaquille O Neal still own a Krispy Kreme outlet?
Shaq is one ofKrispy Kreme sbiggest investors and also owns the outlet in Atlanta. He has consistently backed the franchise and his love of doughnuts. These are one of the few reasons, O Neal is invested heavily in restoring the outlet in Ponce De Leon.
Earlier this year in January, Krispy Kreme made an announcement, about the reconstruction of the shop. After 2 years of waiting, the Krispy Kreme along with the help of Shaq are moving forward with the plan. They will build an all-new shop after the shop built six decades ago was burned down. The resident of Atlanta will be looking at a new 4,000-square-foot shop in the Summer.
