She was released almost a year later and is now back home and appears to be alright.However, that has not stopped the discussions on whether she is transgender or has undergone some form of hormone therapy. Since this is a question in the minds of a lot of fans, let us take a closer look and attempt to find out the truth.

Perhaps all of the comments made by fans can be dismissed as negative or slanderous in nature. After all, calling a woman transgender can be considered an insult and a way to look down on her abilities and performance on the basketball court.
A lot of theories emerged after it was revealed that Griner had the innate ability to dunk a basketball. Since that is something that very few women in the world are capable of doing, it led to some people speculating that she couldn t possibly be a normal woman.

As far as hormone therapy goes, there is no direct evidence or proof that Griner has altered her body or chromosomes in any way. A huge reason for the confusion is her voice and the fact that Griner has come out and revealed herself to be a homosexual.
To those who do not know, that means BG is attracted to and interested in women as opposed to men. Since her voice sounds very different when compared to other females, that too has given some reason to believe that she might not be completely normal.
It is quite improbable for Griner to be a man masquerading and identifying herself as a woman. After all, her childhood and upbringing leave very little scope for a complete change in gender and identity. Her father was quite against her sexuality and one can only imagine how he would have reacted if she was secretly a boy.
At the end of the day, Griner might be slightly different in terms of sexual orientation and vocal cords. However, there is no other reason to doubt that she is a man beyond her impressive play in the WNBA.
