Chris Andersen, an NBA champion, has experienced a roller-coaster of a career. He struggled with the Denver Nuggets before winning the NBA championship in 2013 with LeBron James and the Miami Heat. In 2011, he got into trouble with Paris Dunn, a 17-year-old aspiring model living in South California. Andersen and Dunn, however, would soon fall for a Catfish scam.
At the time, Dunn had 370k Instagram followers, 25k Twitter followers, and 87k Facebook admirers. She misrepresented her age while teasing a number of professional players online. Eventually, the NBA champion who was then playing for the Nuggets saw Dunn. Both sides began communicating on Facebook in 2011.Dunn said, “Hey, I see you’re a fan, but being 17, I was an eager girl.
They started talking to each other online and ultimately started swapping selfies.I was quite happy to receive them and see them again, Dunn remarked. As they grew closer, they exchanged more photos and got to meet Hannibal, Andersen’s pet dog. She did, however, get a message from Tom Taylor, who identified himself as Chris’ best buddy.
Taylor was questioned by Dunn about his area code after noticing something peculiar about it.Oh, it’s my Google number, you know, it’s all good, he simply said. She said, “I’m just switching Google numbers because it’s online and I don’t want people to get my number.” Dunn kept messaging him because he had faith in him.

When Chris Andersen and Paris Dunn began exchanging nude images, their relationship became X-rated. Dunn continued to provide Andersen her images because she trusted him.Dunn acknowledged, “I believed it was him, and I knew he wouldn’t do anything given his position. Finally, Taylor made the suggestion that Dunn meet Chris in person. Chris made travel arrangements for Paris to Denver after she accepted the invitation.
Dunn told her mother about the trip before leaving. After meeting, the couple went on their first date. But as Dunn learned more about each other, he started to have doubts.You told me you brought a lot of Victoria’s Secret clothing to wear for me, the man remarked. He said, “I don’t know a Tom,” but she didn’t give it much thought and let it go. They continued to spend the weekend at his house together. Taylor requested pictures from Andersen’s home via text message to Dunn. She was asked to give them to him, but she declined.
Taylor texted her rudely around three in the morning after she returned home on a plane. She occasionally started receiving texts from Andersen and Taylor asking her to visit Indiana.They wanted me to fly to Indiana and pretend I was taking game-playing lessons in order to steal this guy’s gamer code and password, claimed Dunn. But when she declined, they became irate.

Dunn outlined her intentions to visit Los Angeles in order to meet Blake Griffin. Andersen and Taylor both started to send her irate messages after that. Taylor forwarded her harsh texts and threats.He allegedly threatened to send someone down there to have me raped, killed, and dumped on the side of the road, according to Dunn.just because I was seeing Blake. I was terrified because something suddenly went and just set him off. Dunn said, “I did not like that.”
After Andersen shared his nude images with him, Taylor eventually threatened to publish them online. Tayloe threatened to release the images along with her name, address, and phone number. Dunn informed her mother right away, and she then dialed the police. Andersen was then questioned by the media after they insisted on his speaking absent his lawyer, Mark Bryant.
While the playoffs were in 2012, Andersen received a letter. The Email’s sender identified herself as Dunn’s mother. She claimed to be aware of his encounter with 17-year-old Paris. However, after thoroughly investigating the situation, the investigators discovered that they had been secretly communicating through a third party. The actor who played Tom Taylor and the mother of the Dunns was the same. Their messages were sent indirectly without their awareness and Dunn and Andersen never had direct communication.

The IP address was tracked to a little town called Easterville, where false Facebook profiles, fake phone numbers, and fake email addresses were discovered. It was there that the police apprehended Shelly Chartier, the person responsible for everything. Chartier, who was playing the same game with other people at the time and had been deceiving them for the previous three years. Additionally, Dunn’s fight tickets, which listed her age as 21, were booked by Shelly. Andersen was persuaded by this to think Dunn is not a minor.
The relationship between Andersen and Dunn was eventually made public, and Andersen was identified as the case’s victim rather than the perpetrator. Chartier entered a guilty plea and was imprisoned for 18 months.
